BIO
Hi, my name is Zoey McBride. I’m 12 years old. I was born in Cheyenne Wyoming, but shortly after I was born my dad transferred from Active Duty Air Force to the National Guard. So we moved to Ohio. Ever since I was a little girl, l’ve been obsessed with horses. I was your typical little girl carrying around every stuffed horse animal I could find, and riding a stick pony. Dreaming and praying one day I would have a real one of my own. The horse I own now is a BLM Arizona Mustang, his name is Doc and he’s my best friend. I’m in my 2nd year of 4-H, 1st year of gymkhana W/T/C and contesting. I have learned so much about horses, personal growth, teamwork, sportsmanship and showing in the last 2 years. Doc and I are learning together, since he has never shown before. As a team, Doc and I practice patterns and work on fundamentals. Of course Doc and I want to run like the wind but we are taking it one step at a time. We are bonding and building a relationship. Which I think is crucial for any horseman/horsewoman. As well as respect, behavior, and good sportsmanship. In my spare time I volunteer at a local horse rescue and ranch. I help feed, bathe and exercise horses, muck stalls, and other “barn duties”. At the ranch I get to trail ride with locals and tourists. Being able to give these horses the love they deserve makes me happy. Some of my inspiration comes from the following people: Sarah Rose McDonald, Lisa Lockhart, Fallon Taylor, and Amberley Snyder. They teach me to have compassion and confidence as a rider and person.
