BIO

My name is Matia Townsend, I live in American Fork Utah, and I take pride in being one of the few high school students in my town that competes in rodeo. I am fairly new to competing in rodeo, in 2015 I started Jr. High Rodeo, and even though it was my first year competing, I qualified for state finals. 2016-2017 has been my rookie year in high school rodeo, and I am proud to say that I also qualified for state finals that year. Other than qualifying for state both my rookie years, I don’t have many achievements to mention. But I love watching myself improve! I pay for everything I do, from boarding my two horses, to getting my breakaway horse trained, paying entry fees for my rodeos, travel fees, and everything in between. I pay for all this by teaching horse back riding lessons, and helping little kids find the passion in horses that I know so well. I don’t just rodeo, I also participate in softball, basketball, soccer, dance, and the local swim team. On top of all of my sports, I also stay on the honor roll by doing my best in school. My rodeo roll model is Tillar Murray, because she has helped me learn how to ride my best and improve, she is always willing to help, even with her busy pro rodeo schedule.
