BIO
“My name is Emma Sanderson. I come from a tiny town of 1500 called Random Lake, Wisconsin. Growing up in a rural area, I had always been interested in horse, but until recently could never afford to have one. During fall of 2017, I purchased my first horse, Checkers, a 2015 Appaloosa colt. Since then, I have been working on training him and preparing him for shows and competition. My biggest goal is to one day reach the Appaloosa World Show with Checkers and place in a halter or western pleasure class. We currently are working on strengthening and learning balance. I strongly believe in following the triangle of training, often used for dressage. We start with rhythm, then move to relaxation, connection, impulsion, straightness, and finally collection. I believe that by using this pyramid and not moving on until one step has been completed, is the best way to create a well-rounded horse.
Checkers and I are beginning work under an English saddle as well, to keep him well-rounded and interested in learning. We hope to compete in one or two hunter classes this summer to see his progress. I also really enjoy horse judging and one day hope to be a certified judge with the ApHC and AQHA. My biggest personal accomplishment was taking 9th individually at the Wisconsin State FFA Horse Judging competition.”
