My name is Cora Opatrny, I’m 15 years old and I’ve been riding horses since I could walk. I learned how to ride on my mom’s old barrel horse, then onto a stubborn pony, a stubborn mare, and another crazy pony. When I was 9 I got my first 2 year old and started my training career. I trained my 2 year old (Marlboro) on my own, and he is now my main barrel horse. Over the last 3 years we have won many blues in 4h and lots of money in the jackpots. Fair 2015 we brought home 3 rotating trophies. One of those three was the 4h inspirational award! This year was our first big year together. We went to the Panty Raid Futurity and placed 220th out of 889 some horses at our very first real outing! Over the summer we won many more trophies and ribbons and much more money than the 2 years before! I guess I could say that I am proud of myself and my 7 year old gelding I trained from the ground up.
