Horses have been in my life since before I was born. I am proud to say I own four horses. The first is a sorrel quarter horse 2 year old, TS Drifting Whiskey (aka Houston). I am taking him through the 4-H Colt-to-Maturity project and will start him on barrels next spring. The next is a sorrel 5 year old quarter horse, Rare Highlight (Highlight). He is currently the only horse I have running barrels, but he is not finished yet. Third, I recently bought a black 2 year old quarter horse filly, Smashed and Streakin (Reno). She is my absolute dream horse. I will start her on barrels next year with Houston, but this year I need to get her broke! Last, but definitely not least, is my 4 year old palomino mini mare, HRH Montana Buttercup (Buttercup). I have shown her in 4-H and she did awesome! She has had one foal and will be having more in the future.
I have won many, many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons for the 4 years I have shown in 4-H. This past summer barrel racing, I’ve earned over $500, plus many prizes that add up to over $1200. Last year, I won 1st at the State Horse show for pole bending with a 21, and I won 1st in barrels with a 16.1 this year. I also won 2nd (lost by a few points) overall youth for my district’s NBHA races. I’m very proud of all my accomplishments this year with all my horses and am excited to continue!
