My name is Ashley Elcano and I am from Bakersfield, California. I am 18 years old and was born December 8, 1997. My horse’s name is Miss Peekaboon or Boon for short. She is an astounding 2008 red roan mare out of Boons Royal Legacy. I have been riding horses since I could walk and have been competing nationally now for 5 years in reining. I spend most of my days training for my next competition and because of that I was able to win 2015 champion youth, and 2014 reserve champions in both youth limited and non pro limited California Cow Horse divisions. Because I won champion youth in 2015 I qualified for the NRCHA Celebration of Champions world show in Fort Worth, Texas where I took 27th youth limited and 14th non pro limited in the world. My goal is return to the world show and place higher.

None of my accomplishments would have been possible without my grandmother Diane Lucas. She has pushed me to never give up and always saddle up. It is because of her that I am the horseman I am today. She is my role model and I couldn’t thank her enough.
